Arashi! Aiba Masaki no Rekomen Arashi Remix! 2008.04.25

MMC News
It was really sad to listen Aibachan reading all the MMC news alone, without Otsuka-kun by his side to read together, comment and laugh together.
Oshiete Aibachan!
- Aibachan was asked if he joined any club activity (or extracurricular activity) when he was at junior high or high school. He was in the basketball club.
- A listener who wants to give a present for her parents with her first salary, asked Aibachan for some advices of what to give.
- Some time ago Otsuka-kun read an e-mail sent by a girl from Tochigi-ken, and Aibachan asked where is Tochigi. So a listener from Tochigi-ken sent an e-mail complaining if Aibachan was asking it seriously or if he was joking.
Songs played during this program:
- Hello Goodbye
- Kimi no tame ni boku ga iru
- WISH
- My Answer
More songs than usual ne... Aibachan usually plays only 2 songs during the program, but this time...
Words in blue are my observations.
As always, many many thanks to aibaland for the audio file.
A: Yabai! Me ga juuketsu shiteru!
(Oh no! My eyes are red!)
O: Radio desu.
(Don't forget that this is a radio.)
A: Ah, that's true... Arashi・Aiba Masaki no Rekomen! Arashi Remix!
Konbanwa! Arashi no Aiba Masaki desu. Eee... I have an... announcement for everyone. Eee... It's about Otsuka-kun who was always with me in this radio... The writer and editor Otsuka Toshiki-kun passed on yesterday.
When I received this news... I was really shocked...
He didn't suffer from any chronic disease. And I was told that it was a sudden cardiac disease.
I also went for the visitation.
And it's still tough for me to take the reality...
We also thought a lot about whether to tell everyone about this or not. As a result of what we staff decided together, we thought that we should tell, since this program goes on.
I would like to try to renew my feelings, to be able to continue.
Today I'll up my tension for me and for Otsuka-kun!
Let's go!
So firstly, I'll start playing the first song. Eee... So please listen, Hello Goodbye by Aiba Masaki.
.....Hello Goodbye.....
O: The radio has already started, so now what are you waiting for?
A: Eh? Spring!
A: Arashi! Aiba Masaki no Rekomen Arashi Remix!
It's Aiba Masaki.
The very very small news. I'll transmit the MMC News.
An incident happened in Souka City of Saitama-ken, when a junior high student girl who was skipping rope during Physical Education class, stumbled over the rope when she performed a double under, and had a swelling on her leg. And that swelling had the shape of the letter "A" of the alphabet. The junior high student girl told that she's feeling a bit sad, a bit happy, thinking that it must be an A of Dream"A"live, A of Arashi, and A of Aiba Masaki.
I see... Let me continue!
There was a happening in the afternoon of April 19th, when Ayako-san of Fukuoka-ken was going back home after having lunch. There was a frog sitting on the windshield of the car. The frog kept sitting on, even after the car had started to move. But it disappeared when Ayako-san arrived home. Although Ayako-san is saying that the frog hitched a ride at her car and ran away without paying, there is the possibility that the frog suffered an accident on the way, so the investigations will be proceeded in both, incident and accident, conditions.
WHY!?
Continuing.
According to the informations coming from the reporter in Itagashi City, on the day 16th, before 9 o'clock in the morning, a cell phone drowned in the toilet of the school located in the town. The drowned cell phone was purchased only 2 weeks ago, and it was in conditions of not having any scratch. Immediately after the classes had finished, the user of the cell took it to the cell phone shop, but the cell phone was already flooded and it was given a diagnosis that it'll need a surgery of emergency. 10 days for the fully recover and there is also the risk for the memory to suffer from the sequel of the injuries. The owner of the cell is currently using a substitute borrowed from the store. This user was in a hurry because the class was going to start, and the only salvation was that the user dropped it after flushing the toilet. That's what was reported.
Well, well, I agree with that.
Aiba Masako-san from Niigata-ken was washing her face with soap at the bathroom, holding her breath, but she felt out of breath and breathed through nose. The soap came into her nose and she suffered from a great pain. Masako-san warned to take care with soup.
This may happen, sometimes.
Chirori-san from Aichi-ken, on her 18 years old birthday on April 20th, received many presents, like a drumstick, T back, among others. But some unidentified person sent a package written "Finally a mummy of tsuchinoko was found out!" What was inside the package isn't possible to know through Chirori-san's e-mail, but when Chirori-san opened the package, she was so surprised and her eyes were tearing.
Tsuchinoko?? Doesn't it sound sort of perverted? That package?
Let me continue. Continuing...
A 22 years old teacher whose name is Sakurai Sho was admitted at a school located in Inage of Chiba City. This was revealed by an e-mail from Kyochi-san, a student who is frequenting that junior high school. It's also said that there is a person called Kojima Yoshio in the junior high OB. Teacher Sakurai Sho teaches Social Studies, he's responsible for the soccer club of the school, and he's from Hanamigawa. But he doesn't look like Sakurai Sho-kun of Arashi, in any way.
Sugoi! The kanji are the same too! 22 years old. So there are people with the same sex and same name. Heee... And he teaches Social Studies. I wonder if some Aiba Masaki won't pop up, having the same sex and the same name.
Well, today there were only very tiny news again. I... How can I say... I really don't know how to read them in a news-like way. In any way! This is really difficult... That's why Ogura-san, for example, is impressive... But maybe Ogura-san also doesn't make in a news-like way... I think he doesn't do, does he?
staff: Tomoaki-san?
Yes, Tomoaki-san...
(Ogura Tomoaki-san, our beloved Ogu-san in Shukudaikun ^^, is the caster in a TV program called Tokudane broadcasted by Fuji TV, but this is not exactly a news program, it's more like a wide show, bringing informations about famous people, events and happenings.)
staff: (.....)
Yes, since he doesn't read news so often...
Well, this is surprising. It's difficult.
They're so small happenings, that it irritates me while reading. When I can't read. Shit. I'll do my best to don't be defeated by this corner! So everybody, if you have a news that caught your attention, or a news that surprised you, please send them to this corner, to the MMC News.

So here I would like you to listen to a song by Arashi. "Kimi no tame ni boku ga iru" by Arashi.
.....Kimi no tame ni boku ga iru.....
It was "Kimi no tame ni boku ga iru" from Arashi!
Now WISH by Arashi.
.....WISH.....
O: paio-tsu kaide na, derumo no chan-nee mo kiiteru!
(What a big breast, model gals are also listening it!)
A: REALLY?? (maji de??)
A/O: Arashi・Aiba Masaki no Rekomen! Arashi Remix!
(Oshiete, Aibachan!) Tell us, Aibachan!!
I'll answer to the questions I received from the listeners by e-mails and letters! Here we go. Today we received a lot, as always. So, really thank you very much!
Firstly... I'll start from this one.
Eee... I received this from Saitama-ken, pen name Pink-chan! Arigatou gozaimasu!
Eee... I'm sending you an e-mail for the first time. I became a high school student from this Spring, and I joined the dance club of the school. But since I'm still at the 1st year, I have to run 5km everyday and after that, do the strength training. Only at the last few hours, my senpai teaches some steps of dance. Honestly, I want to be able to dance well soon. Aibachan, did you join a club activity when you were at junior high or at high school? And if you actually joined one, how did you manage to overcome the sad and tough moments? Please tell me.
Alright. Heee... How surprising! The dance club is practically strength training?
So there is a dance club. At my age, there wasn't. Dance club at high school? It looks like a circle.
staff: I suppose it's not a ballroom dance, right?
Yes, I suppose it's not a ballroom dance... Since she's saying "kakkoii"... But well... Ballroom dance may also be kakkoii... I suppose there are various genres in that dance club.
staff: (I can't listen what he said...)
Yes, yes, yes, doing such thing... Eeeh... This is amazing. And she told that they run 5km everyday.
Well, I was in the basketball club. And I was obliged to run everyday too.
If you arrive late for the training early in the morning, then during the training after classes, you are told to make 5 rounds around the school outside, and join the training only after doing that. But since they don't check if we ran or not, there were always many people who swindled. Huum. There was a shortcut if you pass through inside the school, so there were people who did it too.
But the main point is that those activities like running and strength training, they're all a battle with yourself. So if now you have to run 5km everyday, I think it'll certainly bring strength for you. So Pink-chan, ganbatte kudasai. (Please do your best.)
How did you manage to overcome tough or sad moments?
It's the willpower! If you stay thinking negatively, it won't work. So let's go ahead, always forward! Ne, Pink-chan? Ne?
Hai! So I would like to go to the next question.
Eee... This is from Kanagawa-ken, Hiromi-chan. Pen name... radio name Hiromi-chan... No, it's Romi-chan! I received this from Romi-chan. Arigatou gozaimasu!
Eee... In this Spring, I became a worker. With my first salary which I'm going to receive in May, I want to gift something to my parents, but I can't think of anything. If it was Aibachan, what you would gift? And have you ever gave?
Aaah... First salary ne... It's quite memorable. The first salary. I still remember about mine. Of one summer.
staff: Was it the first salary of when you were at Johnny's Junior?
Yes, yes, because besides Johnny's I've never worked in other places, like a part-time job and such. I still remember about it, but I think I didn't buy anything... I have an impression that I just saved it in the way it was. And I created a bank account at that time.
I wonder what could it be. I wonder what would be good to give.
What would be good?
staff: Have you ever gave a present to your parents?
I already gave presents to my parents many times. When I go overseas on location, for example, I usually buy a souvenir which is sold only at overseas, and it includes some expensive stuff and cheap things as well. I usually buy such things there.
But I think that... How can I say... I think what's better is... Those things that you can have and keep with you forever.
staff: As a present that my son/daughter bought for me with his/her first salary.
Huum... Then it'll be more easy for the mother to say...
staff: Or something that doesn't break.
Things that don't break ne.
staff: (.....)
I think so. Then maybe we should choose a hat?
staff: (Again, I can't listen what he said... Where is Otsuka-kun to talk to Aibachan and answer his questions... T___T damn...)
It doesn't break, so we should choose a hat. A hat is nice. Or maybe her mother doesn't wear hats? If she doesn't wear hats, then choose an accessory. So she can have it with her forever. So please do it ne, Romi-chan.
Let me continue. The next is from... Eee... This is from Tochigi-ken, pen name Rumi-chan.
KonAiba!
KonAiba!
On to the main topic, during the previous episode of this corner, Aibachan was asking "Where is Tochigi??", but was it serious or just a joke? It made me really sad.
I guess she must be angry ne... I'm sorry, Rumi-chan. When I asked where is Tochigi... Well, if I say that it was a joke, it was a joke... But if I call it a fiction, then it may be a fiction...
But I know quite a lot of things about Tochigi yo! I know that there is the Nikko, and I also went there. To Nikko. And also the Nasu Kougen, I used to go there every year when I was a child. As a family trip. Nasu Kougen, right? What else? The gyoza of Utsunomiya! It's very good ne. I know many things, so don't be so angry and please continue supporting this Aiba Masaki ne.

-END-
I was really in doubt whether to translate this week's Rekomen or not. I almost gave up in the middle many times. It's so hard to believe that we won't hear Otsuka-san's voice during Rekomen anymore. Some people may think that I sound exaggerated, but this news was really shocking for me. I was looking through some Japanese blogs, and reading so many entries and comments about Otsuka-san, really made me cry. Otsuka-san was such an adorable person. I start to cry whenever I remember about the funny talks between Otsuka-kun and Aibachan, Aibachan teasing him, Otsuka-kun laughing, and how Otsuka-kun and Aibachan did get along very well. All those jingles played during the program were the jingles that Aibachan and Otsuka-kun recorded together. To hear Otsuka-san's voice in those jingles really broke me down. If this news was so sad for us, fans, who knew Otsuka-kun only by listening to him in the radio, for Aibachan who was in touch with him so often, it must be a lot more tough. Although Aibachan was trying his best to hide his sadness and keep the program going on in high tension, I can view him trying to hold his tears. For each thing that Aibachan reads, I couldn't stop thinking about what Otsuka-kun would say or how he would react.
Otsuka-san... Thank you so much for everything that you did, for making Rekomen so funny and cheerful, for helping and taking care of Aibachan.
私は大塚さんの事が本当に大好きでした。今まで本当にありがとう。心から感謝しております。そして、ご冥福を心からお祈りいたします。

Otsuka-san my thoughts are with you and your family/friends
It's so hard reading this...and I'm not even listening to it right now...I'm expecting Otsuka-san to laugh and ask Aiba-chan questions right after the mail and that would never happen again.... ;_;
This is really hard... He gives alot of liveliness into the show....
Anyways, Thankyou for translating!
I had to listen to the show twice to translate it, and I think I won't listen to it anymore.
i wish otsuka-kun can see, from where he is now, how many lives he's touched without even knowing it. all us foreign fans, all those who remembered him thru their vox/lj etc....ppl in countries he probably never thought about, and yet he's touched the lives of those ppl living there too.
